Time to Heal

Saturday morning Angus and I were pottering around. I had a supervision call with participants in my Rewilding Guide and after we were going meet up with the couple we were doing an intensive with. We were making tea and taking care of the pets. Angus turned on CNN. The previous night when we were watching we heard the announcement “LIVE ELECTION UPDATE” several times and were told information like 30 votes have come in from a county in Pennsylvania or Georgia. So when Wolf Blitzer announced another election update at 8:30 am neither one of us was particularly excited....

Who Are You?

Who are you during this time of reckoning?   Who are you when violence goes unpunished and the necks of the vulnerable are trodden on?   Who are you while the trees burn, animals disappear, ocean’s rise, and hurricanes rage?   Who are you as families are torn apart trying to survive and find a better life?   Who are you when power is held in the hands of a few who are lining their pockets with gold, while others go hungry and without shelter?   Who are you when a leader tells you he will not leave?   Who are you when 200,000 lives are dismissed as an insignificant statistic and...

Spiritual Activism

Are you curious about how you can become a Spiritual Activist? Then watch Del Adey-Jones's Insightful Conversations with Ami Chen Mills-Naim and Rohini Ross. The topic of conversation was Spiritual Activism. A subject Del has wanted to address for quite some time now, due to the increasingly tumultuous times we are facing here in the US.   Angus & Rohini Ross are "the Rewilders." They love working with couples and helping them to reduce conflict and discord in their relationships by pointing them to their innate wisdom and understanding. They work with couples who are struggling and couples who would like to...

Let’s Work Together For This Blue Planet

Today I am irritable. I am frustrated. I am grumpy. I am angry. I am pissed off!   This used to be a problem because I was not allowed to be angry. I had conditioned myself to be nice. Anger had to be cut off or at least cordoned off so I could feel like a good person. There was no room for anger if this brown girl wanted to be good.   "Don’t mess with your place. Don’t upset the apple cart. Stay in line. Toe the line. Stay small."   "It doesn’t matter that it hurts. It doesn't matter that it is tight....

Anti-Racist Work and Spiritual Inquiry

I have been heartened this past few weeks by the number of spiritual teachers from different traditions speaking out against racism and making it clear that anti-racism is part of the spiritual work and not separate from it. Eckhart Tolle, Tara Brach, Ron and Mary Hulnick, all made their position clear that they were taking action to support anti-racist work and standing up rather than standing by. I also really appreciated listening to Gangaji’s podcast Being Yourself: Meeting the Roots of Racism Within. Thanks to Sara J. Sanderson Co-founder of When Women Speak Global Network for sharing and bringing it to...

Messy, Awkward, and Emotional — That is Spiritual Too

Over the past several weeks, my discomfort with upsetting people has required me to look inward and dig more deeply for my own inner guidance and wisdom than I have had to do in a while. I know my uncomfortable emotions are a sign of reactivity letting me know I am identifying with my ego. I have been on the learning curve of not taking other people’s upset with me personally. The upset has not only been coming from reactions to my blog posts, although it has been particularly disconcerting to be on the receiving end of racist feedback, but...

Neutrality is Heartless in the Face of Injustice

I want to acknowledge all of the support demonstrated by my readers for anti-racism and for the acknowledgment that Black Lives Matter. As many of you know, my blog posts focus on sharing my personal experience and what I am learning and seeing more deeply related to the experience of living in the human form with more love and understanding.   I share with the intent of being of service, and I encourage you to use my reflections to stimulate your own personal inquiry so you look inward and listen deeply to the wisdom of your true nature. From there, your actions...

Black Lives Matter

Thank you for being a reader!   Last week I shared on social media how surprised I was that so many people unsubscribed from my newsletter in one morning after my last post. I also acknowledged that I didn’t know why people unsubscribed. I received a tremendous amount of support, and some people emailed to let me know their unsubscribe was not related to that week’s post. But I did receive this email:   Rohini, I enjoyed your and Angus's posts very much. But I resent your using the 3 principles platform to promote your political agenda. When I signed up to your emails,...

Rise To The Level of Love And Stand For Justice

The outrage over the death of George Floyd in police custody has incited a wave of protests and violence across the United States. Here in LA, we have had an enforced curfew for the past two nights due to the shift from peaceful protests to riots and lootings. All of this is layered on top of the impact on the city of the pandemic. Many small businesses who might have been looking forward to opening their doors, now have more struggles to deal with. It was heartbreaking to watch an African American store owner in tears as his property was...

Time For Solidarity

From the ACLU: George Floyd should still be alive today. His tragic killing at the hands of Minneapolis police is a result of the unnecessary force and brutality that has been carried out against Black and Brown people in this country for centuries. It is on all of us to make a change and we can begin by holding the officers responsible for Mr. Floyd's death accountable. The ACLU and the ACLU of Minnesota are calling for a fair, independent, and transparent investigation and we need you with us. This case should be handled by someone the community can trust...
